Voting and Mental Health

It is 2020! It is an election year ... and it is 2020! I repeat the fact that it is 2020 ... because it is 2020 LOL.

This year has been ... for lack of a better word ... shitty.

We have all seen how COVID has torn apart families, businesses, and EVERYTHING. How lives have been lost due to systemic racism, bias, negligence ... so on. What we don't have is a sense of security. A sense of peace. A sense of certainty.

It has been hard.

While this article isn't meant to bring you down, it is really to show you WHY this election is important. Why YOU need to vote (if you can) and WHY we need to talk about the issues that matter.

In the video above, I talked more about how important this election is, but ALSO how politics plays a part in mental health issues.

One thing that I DID NOT mention, which is also super important, is how the rates of depression and suicide due to COVID are increasing. We need to start the dialogue of creating more support for those who need help. We need to start BREAKING down the barriers to help and support. We need to STOP the stigma that exists with mental health.

Sigh ... please vote.
